Since that lucrative movie career hasn’t quite panned out, rumor is Sarah Michelle Gellar is going to take another stab at the role that made her famous.
Gellar ended her turn as Buffy the Vampire Slayer in 2003 after seven years and now an insider claims she’s in talks to reprise the role on the big screen:
“There is an idea for a script and to pick the story up with Buffy older and maybe even a mother.
“(Sarah) Michelle is busy with movie projects at the moment but she is excited about the idea. Buffy still has a huge fan-base so this is a movie that already has an audience.
“Michelle is a shrewd businesswoman so the chances are this will happen at some point.”
I miss Buffy and agree there’s a built-in audience (the comics are selling like hotcakes), but Buffy as a mom? Engh. Dollhouse has shaken my faith in Joss.
Slay the bad guys, protect Dawn, make out with a souled-up vampire. Stick to the classics, kids.
