Real American Hero

Forget G.I. Joe, Kal Penn, is the real American hero. (*SPOILER ALERT* If you haven’t watched this week’s House M.D or if you somehow have avoided all other spoilers on the Internet, stop reading now)

Upon deciding to take a job with the Obama administration, Penn’s character on House was killed via suicide (ouch). That’s right, Kal Penn is putting his acting career on hold to be an associate director at the Office of Public Liason ”where he will help the Obama administration connect with arts and entertainment groups as well as the Asian and Pacific Islander communities”.

Now one must wonder what path one would take in order to take this prestigious post. Let’s see, shall we?

Path to the White House
1998- makes film debut in Express: Aisle to Glory
2002- appears in National Lampoon’s Van Wilder
2004- breakthrough role as Kumar in Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle
2007- tries to become a serious actor in The Namesake
2007- plays teenage terrorist on 24, doctor on House M.D2008- begins campaigning for the Obama campaign
2009- character killed off on House
2009- takes job with Obama

Yep. So 11 years, a couple of cult (and turd) films, campaign trail, and TV shows later, BAM! Dream job realized. Now let me find myself an agent so I can set myself up for that career in public service.
