Tony Roberts (“Xanadu”) and Stephen Collins (“Monty Python’s Spamalot”) have joined previously announced cast members John Glover, Rosemary Harris, Jan Maxwell and Reg Rogers for the Manhattan Theater Club’s coming Broadway revival of “The Royal Family.” Doug Hughes will direct the 1927 comedy by George S. Kaufman and Edna Ferber at the Samuel J. Friedman Theater, where previews begin Sept. 15. ... The actor and writer Buck Henry will star opposite Holland Taylor (“Two and a Half Men 1-5 dvd box set” on CBS) in “Mother,” a new play by Lisa Ebersole, directed by Andrew Grosso. Ms. Ebersole’s play, about an eccentric family and a champagne-fueled New Year’s holiday of revelations and rivalries, is scheduled for July 8 through Aug. 1 at the Wild Project Theater. ... The Playwrights Realm will present the American premiere of “Dov and Ali,” a play by Anna Ziegler. The drama, about a complex relationship in a Detroit high school between a Jewish teacher and a Muslim student, is scheduled for June 5 to 27 at the Cherry Lane Studio Theater.
